CAN YOU OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME TO A DOG IN NEED?

Fostering a dog is a rewarding experience that makes a significant difference in the life of a dog in need.
By opening your home to a foster dog, you provide them with a safe, loving environment while they wait for their forever home.
Fostering also helps to reduce the strain on our rescue team, allowing us to save more dogs in need.
Our foster program gives dogs a safe, loving home while they wait for their forever family.
Fostering is a meaningful and rewarding way to make a direct impact on a dog’s wellbeing.
In many cases, you will be directly contributing to save a dog's life.

Who can foster?

We’re looking for compassionate, responsible individuals or families who can provide a stable and loving environment for a foster dog.
You must be over 18 years old and have a current police clearance.
Prior experience with dogs is beneficial but not essential – we provide all the support and guidance you’ll need.

What's involved?

As a foster carer, you’ll provide temporary care for a dog in your home.
This includes feeding, exercise, basic training, and lots of love and attention.
Fostering can last from a few weeks to several months, depending on the dog’s needs and how quickly they find a permanent home.
All you need to provide is love, time, and a warm place to stay.
Many foster carers say it's one of the most fulfilling things they've done - helping dogs on their journey to a new life while gaining a loyal temporary companion.

What do we provide?

We supply food, bedding, toys, leads, crates, whatever your foster pup needs to feel comfortable and secure.
All approved veterinary expenses are fully covered by Scruffers - we coordinate appointments and support you through any health related concerns.
We provide ongoing guidance when needed, whether it’s your first foster or you're already an experienced foster carer.
We’re here to answer questions, offer training tips, and help with any challenges that come up.

Foster to Adopt

Foster-to-adopt is perfect for those who are ready to welcome a dog into their life but want to make sure it’s the right fit before committing.
You’ll care for the dog in your home, just like a standard foster, but with the intention of adopting if all goes well.
This approach gives both you and the dog time to bond and adjust, ensuring the transition into a permanent home is smooth and successful.
It’s a thoughtful first step toward adoption—and many happy tails begin this way.
